On August 17 & 18, we are hosting the second annual Escape Adulthood Summit in picturesque Madison, Wisconsin. It will be a wild rumpus of epic proportions.

Part conference, part retreat, part mastermind group, it’s a one-of-a-kind event designed for people instilled with the soaring spirit of childhood.

It’s your chance to connect with kindred spirits for a madcap weekend filled with fun and inspiration. We’ll talk about how to stay happy and hopeful in an Adultitis-ridden world that’s increasingly more noisy, cynical, and stressful. We’ll share simple, fun, and practical ideas for creating memorable scenes with the people we love. We’ll brainstorm creative ways to break rules that don’t exist. We’ll explore the elusive concept of life balance and discover ways to make life less stressful and more fun. Oh yeah, and we will eat cheese curds and build something that may or may not involve macaroni. Believe it.

We have over 30 years of combined experience in planning, leading, and facilitating similar events, but last year was our first of this kind and we really weren’t sure what to expect. To our surprise and delight, we sold out in five days. We’ve decided to limit the attendance on this transformative experience in order to keep things intimate. This year, there will only be 40 Golden Tickets available.

Here are some promises we have for you:

We promise that the weekend will be filled with magic, surprises, and laughter.

We promise that you will meet new people, learn new things, and be armed with ideas to begin writing exciting new chapters to your life story.

We promise that you will be inspired, challenged, rejuvenated, and affirmed that no, you’re not weird. You’re awesome.

Let’s face it, we live in a world dominated by Adultitis, and it can feel terribly lonely when you feel like you’re the only one who sees the value in silliness, the importance of laughter, and the power of a chocolate chip cookie. But know this: You are not alone.

The Escape Adulthood Summit is for you if:

You want to slow down.

You want to laugh like you did when you were seven.

You want to spend more time around positive people.

You want to be a better (and more fun) spouse, parent, grandparent or friend.

You’ve been through a lot lately and want to lighten up.

You want to escape “normal.”

You want to feel more alive.

Give yourself permission to join us for the Escape Adulthood Summit.

Make your life more amazing. Make your escape.

And it’s dinner time.

Now, if I were to ask you, “Would you like to have dessert first tonight?”, what would your reaction be?

Kind of a no-brainer, right? You’d probably wonder if it was some sort of trick question because the answer would be so freaking obvious:

YES!

Kids are always looking to score a cookie before dinner or move on to cake before the carrots are consumed. But somewhere along the line, Mom, Dad, Grandma or Grandpa says, “No, you can’t have dessert first. It’ll spoil your dinner.”

Drat.

Disgruntled, you make a little promise to yourself that when you get big, you’ll eat dessert whenever and wherever you want. When you get big, you’ll live by your own rules.

And yet.

The majority of people probably can’t remember the last time they had dessert first.

Can you?

Life is short. Eat dessert first...at least once in a while.

That’s cockiness. I believe that real confidence is the deep-seated belief that no one is better than you.

In the pantheon of crayon colors, brown rarely gets much love. It seems as though red and blue have the best publicists, for they are the colors most widely named as people’s favorites. But brown is a very useful hue, coming in quite handy when drawing trees, hair, skin, and many different kinds of animals. (And let’s not forget things made of chocolate!) Although we may have our favorites, no one color is better or more useful than any of the others. Each one is uniquely different and equally great.

Although we as people come from different backgrounds, have different viewpoints, and possess different strengths and talents, we each have a distinct brand of magic we are called to unleash on the world.

We need your magic.

Because if you remove one crayon from the box, our world becomes a little less beautiful.

I don't know about you, but to me it's been downright exhausting to hear the constant stream of negativity on the news and in daily conversation. No doubt, we are living in trying times, but no matter who dire the circumstance, there are always hidden opportunities waiting to be found. Some of the largest and most important companies and technological advances were born in the most challenging periods of history.

Some may discount the power of positive thinking, but the truth is this: You can't spot a good opportunity when you're looking at life with a bad attitude.
